Description
Half-length portrait of George Graham seated in an interior with the pendulum of a longcase clock visible in the background. He wears coat with deep cuffs, waistcoat and shirt. He has a medium length wig and a tricorne hat rests in his lap.
Inscribed ‘T. Hudson, pinx J. Tookey, Sculp. GEORGE GRAHAM.’ Pencilled ‘1720’ in the lower left hand corner.
George Graham (1673-1751) British instrument maker, he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1721 and served on the Council between 1722 and 1730.
