Half-length portrait of Albrecht von Haller facing forward and head turned to the right as viewed. He wears medium length curled periwig with jacket, waistcoat shirt and neck tie.
Inscribed ‘ALBERT DE HALLER, M.D. F.R.S.’ with a facimile signature ‘Your [?] humbled obedient servant Haller. [?] 28 Sep 1779.’ Pencilled ‘1739’ lower left hand corner and ‘Born 16 Oct 1708, died 12 Dec 1777.’
Albrecht von Haller (1708-1777) Swiss anatomist, physiologist and naturalist, elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1739.
