    Head and shoulders portrait of William Hey in left profile. He wears buckled wig and is dressed in high-collared jacket and waistcoat.

    Inscribed ‘WILLIAM HEY ESQ. F.R.S.’ pencilled ‘1775’ on paper support.

    William Hey (1736-1819) British surgeon, elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1775.
