    Head and shoulders portrait of James Heywood in three-quarter profile to the right as viewed. He wears regency-style clothes and has short hair with side-whiskers.

    Inscribed’MR. HEYWOOD, M.P. FOR NORTH LANCASHIRE.’ Pencilled ‘1839’ lower right hand corner.

    James Heywood (1810-1897) British MP and philanthropist, elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1839.
