Head and shoulders portrait of Anthony Horneck turned to the right and looking out to viewer. He wears mid-length periwig and is dressed in cassock and bands. Oval in a rectangular frame.
Inscribed ‘Mrs Beale pinxit. R. White sculp. The Reverend Dr. Anthony Horneck.’ Pencilled ‘1668’ lower left hand corner.
Anthony Horneck (1641-1697) German clergyman and scholar, elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1669.
