    Inscribed ‘Painted by J. Jackson, R.A. Engraved by T. A. Dean. GEORGE HOWARD, EARL OF CARLISLE. FISHER, SON & Co. LONDON, 1831.’

    George Howard, 6th Earl of Carlisle (1773-1848) British statesman, elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1795.
