Description
Half-length portrait of William Hunter seated at a desk with an open book. He wears mid-length periwig and is dressed in a coat with deep cuffs and shirt with lace cuffs.
Inscribed ‘William Hunter, M.D. F.R.S.’ and inked ‘William Hunter FRS’ on paper support with the sitters date of election pencilled lower left.
William Hunter (1718-1783) British physician, elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1767.
