Description
Head and shoulders portrait of Nicholas Joseph Jaquin in right profile. He wears buckled wig with queue and wears coat with necktie. In a round frame surmounted with ribbon and upon a pedestal inscribed with the sitters name.
Inscribed ‘NICKLAS JOSEPH VON JACQUIN. Jos Kreitzinger pinx [?] J.C. Keüger sc: Berolini’ and pencilled ‘1788. Botanist.’
Nicolas Joseph Jacquin (1727-1817) Dutch physician, elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1788.
