Head and shoulders portrait of James King inclined to the right and looking out to viewer. He wears naval uniform with buckled wig. After a medallion.

Inscribed ‘IAC. KING L.L.D F.R.S’.

James King (1750-1784) British naval officer, elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1781.
