Head and shoulders portrait of Colin Maclaurin inclined to the left as viewed. He wears curled periwig and is dressed in deep-collared coat and neckbands. In an oval frame with allegorical scene below in which a women in classical dress is seated with two globes, scientific instruments and mathematical symbols.
