Sherrington was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1893. He served as Vice President from 1917-1918 and from 1925-1926, and President from 1920-1925. He won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine with Edgar Adrian in 1932 for their work on the function of neurons.
