A sample of lava extruded from Anak Krakatau ('Child of Krakatoa') in 2012.
Anak Krakatau is an island that emerged at the site of the original volcanic eruption of Krakatoa in 1883. It collapsed into the sea in December 2018, precipitating a deadly tsunami.
