    Description
    Three figures related to Robert Hooke's design of a new lamp. This design is intended to keep the surface of the oil at the same height until it is all spent.

    This image is a copy of the one at Cl.P/20/33/001.
    Object history
    At the meeting of the Royal Society on 14 March 1667, ‘Mr. Hooke brought in the description and demonstration of his new lamp; which was ordered to be registered’ (Birch 2:155). The text and references to figures are printed in Birch 2:155-56.
