    Description
    Three figures related to Robert Hooke's design of a new lamp. This design was intended to keep the surface of the oil at the same height until it is all spent.

    These images are coped from the ones at RBO/3/178, which are copied from Cl.P/20/33/001.
    Object history
    At the meeting of the Royal Society on 14 March 1667, ‘Mr. Hooke brought in the description and demonstration of his new lamp; which was ordered to be registered’ (Birch 2:155). The text and references to figures are printed in Birch 2:155-56.
