    Head and shoulders portrait of Auldjo, looking to the left as viewed. The sitter is shown in a broad brimmed hat over long hair and has a curled beard.

    Printed below the image: “FAEDO & TEMOREL, PHOT.” And in ink “JOHN AULDJO F.R.S. (1840)”. Inscribed in ink verso: “John Auldjo F.R.S. Born 26 July 1805 Died 6 May 1886 (see Notes & Queries 1934 vol.166 p.327-332” and with a provenance inscription. Printed: “FAEDO & TEMPOREL PHOTOGRAPHES PLAIN PALAIS, 555 CHEMIN DANCET 555, Geneve.”

    John Auldjo was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1880.
