Description
Three-quarter length seated portrait of George Graham with his left arm resting on a table and his right arm resting on an upturned hat in his lap. The mercury pendulum of a large clock can be seen behind his left shoulder and a book rests beside him on the table.
Inscribed below: ‘T. Hudson Pinxt/J. Faber fecit./George Graham CLOCK MAKER,/Done from the Original Picture, in the possession of the Right Honble/GEORGE EARL of MACCLESFIELD, &C.’
George Graham (1673 - 1751), British clockmaker, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1721.
