    Taken from the original letter from Johannes Hevelius to Henry Oldenburg dated 7 October 1671, Gdansk (EL/H2/27).

    The drawing shows the passage of Jupiter near the moon as observed by Hevelius at Gdansk on 30 September 1671 [N.S.] in the morning. It was published in Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society, vol. 6, no. 78 (1671), pp. 3028-33.
