Figures in a copy of a letter written by the Jesuit mathematician Jean Bertet (1622-1692) to John Wallis dated 1 December 1671. Bertet commented on the difference of approaches to quadratures in Grégoire de Saint-Vincent (1584-1667), Opus geometricum quadraturae circuli et sectionum coni (Antwerp: J. and J. Muersios, 1647) and John Wallis, Arithmetica infinitorum (Oxford: T. Robinson for L. Litchfield, 1656). Wallis replied to Bertet in a letter dated 19 December 1671 (EL/W1/134).
