    Two drawings in the margin indicating the shape of the crystals found in human seminal fluid. From a Latin version of the letter sent by Antoni van Leeuwenhoek to William Brouncker, November 1677. The original letter is missing. The Latin version, along with fig. A, was printed in Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society, vol. 12, no. 142 (December 1678, January and February 1679).
    Object history
    At the meeting of the Royal Society on 17 January 1678, ‘a farther account of divers observations made by [Mr. Leeuwenhoek] with his microscope since his last letter of 2d January, 1676, N. S. which he had sent to the lord viscount Brouncker, concerning the receit of which he was very solicitous to be informed. He informed the society in his last letter of his farther observations on milk, phlegm, etc.’ (Birch 3:374-75).
