Description
Johannes Hevelius's printed sheet of the surface of the Moon, on which annotations are made in ink and graphite to indicate the path of Jupiter moving behind the Moon. The phase of the Moon is marked with a line in ink and shading in graphite. The occultation was observed by Hevelius on 5 July 1679 at Gdansk, as reported in a letter to Nehemiah Grew dated 10 June 1679. This is a copy of the original chart signed by Hevelius(LBO/8/079a).
