    Diagrams in Renatus Franciscus Slusius's explanation of his method of drawing tangents to any curve in a letter to Henry Oldenburg. The letter was read at the meeting on 29 January 1673, and subsequently printed in Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society, vol. 7, no. 90, pp. 5143-47.

    At the meeting of the Royal Society on 29 January 1673, ‘Mr. Oldenburg read the following letters […] of Mons. Slusius, dated Liege, 17th January 1672/3, N.S. containing his short and easy method of drawing tangents to all geometric curves, without the labour of calculation’ (Birch 3:74).
