At the meeting of the Royal Society on 2 July 1684, ‘Another discourse was communicated form Oxford by Mr. Joshua Walker concerning the figure of a church, which may be built seventy feet wide, without any pillar in it. This also being long was not read, but ordered to be transcribed’ (Birch 4:310).
