    A drawing in the margin of the Journal Book, indicating the shape of a black slate found in the mines of Somersetshire, reported by John Beaumont on 25 May 1692.
    Object history
    25 May 1692, 'There was produced a piece of black slate found by Mr Beaumont in the Mines in Sumersetshire, it was curiously mark't with leaves as in the Margent [=margin], ranged exactly in Parallelograms, or Rhomb, having the lesser Angle about 49 gr: the whole was very near a true plaine. Mr Hunt was ordered to take the impression in plaister' (JBO/10/086).
