    Drawing and description of an arquebus, or gun that works on air. The design was made by Denis Papin and presented by him at a meeting of the Fellows of the Royal Society.
    Object history
    At the meeting of the Royal Society on 18 April 1678, ‘Mons. Papin, who was admitted to be present, shewed an experiment of a wind-gun of his own making and contrivance’ (Birch 3:401).
