Denis Papin's design of a brick with a gouged channel to support pipes used in experiments.
Transcription
... for greater security, in a great length of pipes we might use such Bricks as the annexed scheme represents, having a little channel to lay the pipes in, and afterwards the said channel might be filled with coarse turpentine.
