    Description
    Three figures illustrating the mechanism of a new lamp invented by Robert Hooke, in which the oil is supplied steadily to the wick. The description was published in Hooke's Lampas (London, 1677).

    Object history
    At the meeting of the Royal Society on 14 March 1667, ‘Mr. Hooke brought in the description and demonstration of his new lamp; which was ordered to be registered’ (Birch 2:155). The text and references to figures are printed in Birch 2:155-56.
