Description
A figure of an instrument to scrape hide in order to make parchment. John Beale described the process of making parchment, which was read to the meeting of the Royal Society on 25 May 1664 and was ordered to be registered (RBO/3/035-039).

At the meeting of the Royal Society on 25 May 1664, ‘Mr. Beal’s account of the art of making parchment was read, and ordered to be registered’ (Birch 1:428).
