    Description
Plan of ‘the bathroom of her majesty, Queen of Sweden, in the Palace where she lived in Rome’. It is the layout of a bathroom in the Palazzo Riario (now Palazzo Corsini) during the time of Queen Christina of Sweden’s residency. The top section indicates a small room with a large furnace for hot water (D), a chimney (V) and a cistern for warm scented water (N) behind a room with two baths. The baths (C) were made of grey stone, with seats made in white marble (H) and cold water brought in from outside (F). B indicates the window, L the dressing table, M the tables for clothes and P the drains. The stone baths are now used for planting at the Botanical Garden in Rome, opposite the Palazzo Corsini.

Queen Christina of Sweden (1626-1689) moved to Rome on her abdication and conversion to Catholicism. She resided successively at the Palazzo Farnese, Palazzo Rospigliosi and the Palazzo Riario (later Corsini), which housed her extensive art collection.
