Description
Etching of a collection of coins.
This sheet was included in a letter by Johannes Gezelius the Younger (1647-1718) to Henry Oldenburg dated 11/21 June 1673, at the behest of Julius Reichelt (1637-1719), Professor of Mathematics in Strasbourg. Reichelt sent sheets showing the types of coins he was interested in and requested the Royal Society to send images of similar coins if they had any. This was eventually printed in his Exercitatio de amuletis, aeneis figuris illustrata (Strasbourg, 1676), as plate 4.
