    Description
    Saturn observed on 19 October 1672 [N.S.] at Gdansk with a 55-foot telescope by Johannes Hevelius. In his letter to Henry Oldenburg dated 29 October 1672, and read on 6 November 1672.

    6 November 1672, ‘Two other letters were likewise read, both written by Mr. Hevelius to Mr. Oldenburg from Dantzick, dated September 16, and October 29, 1672, concerning the eclipse of the sun, on the 11th of August, N.S. and the phasis of Saturn on the 19th of October: as also the re-appearance of the new star in the neck of the Swan’ (Birch 3:60).
