Printed image of lunar surface with brown ink lines to indicate the phases of the lunar eclipse.
This image is of a lunar eclipse observed in Gdansk by Johannes Hevelius on 1 January 1676, and communicated in a letter to Henry Oldenburg dated 15 February 1676 (EL/H2/41).
The image is not related to the observation for which the date is given in EL/H2/39 (total eclipse of the Moon on 11 January 1675), and which accompanied the letter dated 21 March 1675 (Correspondence of Henry Oldenburg, ed. by Hall and Hall, vol. 11, 212-20 (nos 2625, 2625a).
