Description
Head and shoulders portrait of a fashionably-dressed Halliwell, with curled hair, a high cravat with jewelled stick-pin, light waistcoat and a jacket with a trimmed collar.
Inscribed “Drawn from life and on Stone by W.L.Walton. Published by J.R.Smith, 4, Old Compton Street, Soho Square. Printed by C.Hullmandell.” With a facsimile signature.
James Orchard Halliwell [the additional name Phillipps was taken in 1872] was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1839.
