Description
Figure of a stone with a sharp edge resembling a poleaxe used in antiquity. This figure was included in a letter from Dr Charles Preston to Hans Sloane. In the letter, Preston says the stone was found on a hill in the north country called 'Catterfane' Hill. This letter was read to the Royal Society on 27 October 1697.
