Description

Marginal drawings of vessels in a text on the art of transmutation attributed to Johannes Anglicus, a name referring to a mythical female Pope.

These drawings and texts are part of a collection of treatises on alchemy, physical and mathematical sciences for 'Count Guido', entitled 'Libro varissimo del Conte Guido di materie Fisicke & Mathematicke', dated before 1650.

The manuscript was presented to the Royal Society in 1947 by the Somerset Archaeological and Natural History Society.
