    Description
Botanical study of bush or wood oat grass with a sparsed panicle (Gramen avenaceum dumetorum panicula sparsa) and meadow grass with oblong spikes without awns (Gramen paniculatum spicis longis...). With flower details. Signed ‘Ric: Waller pinx[it]’ (Richard Waller painted this). Unlike on his other drawings, Waller did not record for the plant numbered 26 the reference to John Ray’s Synopsis Methodica Stirpium Britannicarum (London, 1690), though it is from p. 192, no. 5. For the plant numbered 27, Waller wondered (‘an…’ in Latin means ‘whether’) if it was the meadow grass which was also listed in the same book at p. 188, no. 9.
