Description
Botanical study of white and black oats (Avena alba and Avena nigra) with flower details. Signed ‘Ric: Waller pinx[it]’ (Richard Waller painted this). Unlike on his other drawings, Waller did not record the reference to John Ray’s Synopsis Methodica Stirpium Britannicarum (London, 1690), though they are from p. 178, no. 1 (white oats) and p. 179, no. 2 (black oats).
