Description
Drawing of a swordfish from Harwich shown at the Bartholomew Fair where Henry Hunt must have made this sketch. The inscription above reads, 'The sword fish, after the fish newly taken drawne by HHunt August 25, 1694', and at the bottom 'a scale of feet'.

Object history
This was shown to the Society at 17 October 1694: 'Mr Hunt produced an exact figure of the swordfish, or Piscis gladius, whose length was a foot in al, and the sword 3 foot. This fish was taken near Harwich, and was shewn as a sight in last Bartholomew Fair' (JBO/ 2/168), and again on 8 November 1702: 'Mr Hunt’s Draught of the Swordfish taken in the Thames 1694 was shewed' (JBO/11/4).
