Description
Drawing of a 'monstrous' spearmint with a spirally twisted stalk, with an inscription, 'a sprige of spare mint given by Mr Bemde, May 1705', signed by Henry Hunt. This was presented to the Royal Society on 9 May 1705 by John van de Bemde.

Object history
9 May 1705: 'Mr Bempde presented a sprig of spear-mint which grew very monstrously, the stalks being twisted spirally. Mr Hunt was desired to take a draught of it' (JBO/11/71).
