    Description
Figure of the dish holding the mercury of the baroscope. In a letter from John Flamsteed to Richard Towneley, dated 25 November 1673.
    Transcription
The dish which holds the stagnant mercury in my Baroscope is made as in this figure with a kind of under tube about 1/2 in. long and as wide as in this figures so that letting the cane downe to the bottom of the glasse I can safely carry it out, with ordinary care.
