Description
Two figures illustrating how to use spherical triangles to calculate astronomical positions from observed values. In a letter from late December 1678, John Flamsteed explains how to determine astronomical positions using spherical triangles to Richard Towneley. Flamsteed notes that it was Sir Jonas Moore who taught him how to resolve right-angled spherical triangles.
