    Object history
MS 247 is part of the papers of David Gregory and James Gregorie. It includes Isaac Newton’s autograph draft of what is known as the ‘classical scholia’ (1693-94) to the third book of the Principia, which was never printed but was shared with Gregory, who drew on it for his preface to his own Elementa astronomiae physicae et geometricae (London, 1702).

See Paolo Casini, ‘Newton: The Classical Scholia’, History of Science, 22 (1984), 1-58.
