    Half length portrait of Hastings looking directly to the viewer, wearing a dark coat and white cravat.

    Inscribed: “Painted by Sir Joshua Reynolds, P.R.A. Engraved by H.Robinson. RT. HONBLE. WARREN HASTINGS, L.L.D. F.R.S. &c. &c. FISHER, SON & CO., LONDON, 1832.” With a facsimile signature. In pencil lower left “1801”.

    The original painting, in the National Portrait Gallery London (NPG 1845) is attributed to Lemuel Francis Abbott, not Sir Joshua Reynolds as given in the inscription on this print.

    Warren Hastings was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1801.
