Description
Diagrams illustrating the effect of the motion of the Earth on the longitudes, latitudes, Right Ascension and declination of stars. John Flamsteed had written to John Wallis on this topic with a figure (printed in Wallis's Opera mathematica, vol. 3, 701-08), which Jean Dominique commented on in B. de Fontenelle, Histoire de l'Academie royale des sciences... avec les memories de mathematique et de physique, vol. 1 (1702), 177-83. Flamsteed, in his letter to Christopher Wren dated 19 November 1702, commented on Cassini's figures and how he had misunderstood Flamsteed's point.
This volume includes material gathered by Christopher Wren Jr, FRS (1675-1747), relating to his father, Sir Christopher Wren (1632-1723), the architect and one of the earliest fellows of the Royal Society.
