Description
This diagram is part of an examination into the force of man by Mr de La Hire at the Paris Observatory. This account, translated into English, is dated 14 November 1699, but was not read to the Royal Society until 4 June 1707.
Phillipe de La Hire (1640-1718) was a French natural philosopher and member of the Royal Academy of Sciences. He was active in mathematics and astronomy, hence his attachment to the Paris Observatory.
