Engraved portrait of Bishop Samuel Bradford. The first head and shoulders portrait engraved by J. Stowe, after the original picture by George Perfect Harding in the Deanery of Westminster.
Samuel Bradford (1652-1731) was a priest, lecturer and tutor in London, and was the Boyle lecturer in 1699.
From a set of albums known as Collectanea Newtoniana, a selection of prints, original artwork and manuscripts relating to Newton, collected by Charles Turnor (1768-1853). Turnor was an astronomer, collector and Fellow of the Royal Society. He owned Woolsthorpe Manor (Newton’s birthplace).
