Description
Stipple engraving of a half-length portrait of Theodore Haak by Edward Harding, after a portrait by Sylvester Harding, which was in turn copied from the portrait of Haak in the Royal Society. Harding's portrait is now in London at the British Museum (Gg,1.436). The engraving is framed with coloured slips of decorative pattern.
From a set of albums known as Collectanea Newtoniana, a selection of prints, original artwork and manuscripts relating to Newton, collected by Charles Turnor (1768-1853). Turnor was an astronomer, collector and Fellow of the Royal Society. He owned Woolsthorpe Manor (Newton’s birthplace).
