    Description
    Half-length seated portrait of Ewald Friedrich Graf von Hertzberg turned to the left, as viewed, with his right arm resting on a table behind him. He is shown wearing a long jacket with a frilled cravat and sleeves. On his left lapel a Star of the Order of the Black Eagle is prominently displayed, its Latin motto suum cuique, which translates as ‘to each his own’, can be seen.

    Inscribed below: ‘HERTZBERG./Gemahlt von Schroeder./bey J. F. Frauenholtz zu Nürnberg./Gestochen von I. S Klauber.

    Ewald Friedrich Graf von Hertzberg (1725-1795), Prussian statesman, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1789.
