Plate 107 from the Supplement to the general synopsis of birds, by John Latham (London, Leigh & Sotheby, 1787). The plate is inscribed above ‘Pl. CVII’; and below ‘Spectacle Owl.’
In the associated description, the author states: ‘I found this singular species among a collection of birds which were brought from Cayenne [French Guiana] and the specimen is now in the Leverian collection. A label fixed to the leg named it Le Plogueur’.
