Ornithological study of the Scarlet myzomela or Scarlet honeyeater (Myzomela sanguinolenta) a bird native to Australia. Shown perched on a tree branch.

Plate 130 from the Supplement. II. to the general synopsis of birds, by John Latham (London, Leigh, Sotheby & Son, 1802). The plate is inscribed above ‘Pl. CXXX.’; and below ‘Sanguineous Creeper. Publishd as the Act directs May 30, 1801, by Leigh, Sotheby & Son, York Street, Covent Garden.’

In the associated description, the author states: ‘Inhabits New South Wales.’

John Latham (1740-1837) British surgeon and naturalist, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1775.
