    Landscape with three figures of cloud formations. Figure 1 (upper left) a comoid cirrus or mare’s tail. Figure 2 (upper right) cirrus cloud with a straight linear cirrus above. Figure 3 (lower right) cumulus clouds.

    Thomas Ignatius Maria Forster (1789-1860) British writer on science and phrenologist. Forster was a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society; his early writings were on meteorology.
